Dear Mr. Benner,
Well, you have officially crossed the halfway mark and now are closer to being 1 than to being a newborn. It is crazy how fast time flies. Shortly after you turned 6 months old, you decided that you did want to sit up like a big boy. You leaned over for a while, which seemed like it should hurt your back. It wasn't long before you were sitting up nice and straight, playing with your toys.
You have also gotten a lot more interested in them (toys, that is) lately. Your favorite thing to chew on is your binky. Except, as Grandma found out, you like to put the wrong end in your mouth - then get it stuck! No fun! You enjoy your Baby Einstein bouncy thing and Sophie the Giraffe.
Sleeping is STILL iffy. You tease us by sleeping through the night for 3-4 nights, then just when we get used to it, you wake back up for your binky. I've started putting you on your belly lately, as you have zero interest in rolling, in any shape, form, or fashion. I'm being proactive in the whole "flat head" thing. I know you can roll, I've seen it, you just flat-out refuse to do it. My guess is that you'll crawl first. For all I know, you'll skip crawling and go straight to walking, since standing is more fun for you. You'll stand there, holding onto our hands for a while. Once, I got brave and just put your hands on the ottoman and you stood there for quite some time, holding on by yourself. We'll see what happens.
As far as solids go - you seem to love them! You like fruits more than veggies, but will eat veggies with no problem if you mix a little fruit in. You also seem to have better luck digesting things than your big sister did/does - poor girl! So far you've tried:
oatmeal
avocado
pears
apples
bananas
carrots
squash
zucchini
peas
sweet potatoes
green beans
peaches
beets (mixed with blueberries and bananas)
blueberries
quinoa (mixed with blueberries)
cantelope
mango
It seems like a lot when I type it out, but when I stare into the freezer, I feel like you always get the same things. You don't seem to mind.
Ben, I promise we have pictures of you - but having a bum computer makes it difficult to upload them. When you see them, you might notice that you're starting to look a little like your sister did at this age. I'll make sure and post an age comparison. I will say that you are a lot leaner than she was - and you better not make fun of her for that when you're older! She may be smaller than you one day, but she'll still boss you around. We'll get some up quick - I promise! I'd hate for my #2 to feel like he's being slighted. :)
We love you, Buddy Boy!
Love,
Mommy
