The boring stuff: he measured in at 25lbs, 6oz, only up around a pound from 1 year, and 34 inches long - which is in the 100+ percentile (height, not weight.). It was funny, they showed me his height growth chart and his little dot was well above the line. Long and lanky, this little guy is. He did well at his check-up, did not cry too bad for Dr. E. Learned how to climb on top of things, which has turned into a not-so-fun little game around here.
He still doesn't walk. We have been saying "any day now" for a couple months. And really, I am sure it is any day now. You can put him down and he stands there, contemplates whether or not he is actually going to take a step, then sits down and crawls - mighty fast, I might add. I did ask the doc (for those that are wondering if something is wrong), they are not considered to be developmentally behind until they are not walking at 18 months. He cruises along everything, pantses (don't think that is a word) you if you are wearing loose pants when he uses you as a pulling up spot.
I went back and read Kaylynn's 15 month post, as I wanted to see how different they were. I was sure I was going to read a long list of clearly spoken words; she had about 20, but not all were written down. Ben does not speak too clearly, but he is not doing that bad. He vocabulary consists of:
Dog (and the sound, Arf, Arf)
Moooo
Mama
Dada
NO
Up, when he wants to get out of his chair
Poop - sometimes said while doing the act, pretty impressive!
Mouth, pointing to his mouth
Ball
Duck
Nigh-nigh
Coco (Nicole, the kids call her Coco)
Lulu (Lynsie, aka Lulu)
Papa (sometimes)
He's not doing too bad!
As for things he loves, it is books, balls, his cars, and puzzles (along with all of Kaylynn's toys, especially that Dora microphone. Thanks Uncle Mike & Aunt Donna!). We were hoping to get a lefty out of him, but if his eating is any indication, he will be a righty. He throws with both hands right now.
You got your first haircut in January! Some lady on an airplane told us we had a beautiful girl and that is when I freaked. Your hair was not that long, but whatever. The curls are gone. :( But your new little chop job is pretty cute.
As I mentioned earlier, climbing is a new thing. I wish I had pictures, but once he climbs up, he can't get down, so I have to rescue him before he busts his head falling. Fun times around here! He also gives sweet hugs and kisses, complete with the "awww" sound effect. His hugs really just involve you hugging him, but he puts his head on your shoulder, so sweet!
We cannot wait until this boy is walking. Big sister is in for a rude awakening! Keep growing, little man! You are the sweetest boy we know!
Love,
Mama
