8 Months!

Mr. Ben,

We're sitting here at 8 1/2 months. If I wasn't late, I wouldn't show up at all, huh? It seems to be our m.o. lately (what does that even mean? I hear it all the time.)

At 8 months you are eating like a horse! 3 meals of solids a day, plus 4 8oz bottles! You get all kinds of excited when you see your bottle coming! Legs kicking, arms flapping kind of excited. It's cute. You have learned to eat puffs, and think they are the bees knees. Watching you eat them is hilarious, because the second you get one in your hand, your mouth opens. You put it in your mouth with one hand and then use the other one to help push the hand in your mouth.

You still have zero desire to be mobile. You reach out and lean for toys you want, but if it requires moving to get it, meh, you'd rather not. When you lean out from sitting, you can bend over and practically lay on your belly - flexible! Most of them time your leaning pushes you over onto your belly, where you play for a little bit, then roll to your back. Here you look like an out-of-place turtle! It's funny. I keep working with rolling the other way, but you don't care. Why roll or crawl when someone can carry you. :)

I think your most favorite thing to do is pull your mama's hair. You can find those tiny hairs at the base of my neck - the ones that hurt! It's cute though, because you will reach both hands around my neck, grab and then pull yourself close - as if you are giving me a hug. You are laughing and smiling the entire time.

Let's see - if I had to say what your favorite toy was, I'd say your pal Sophie the Giraffe or the little cloth mouse rattle. He's easy to chew on, which is what you are really all about. Chewing on everything, drooling on everything, but no teeth!

Your daddy took you to the doc a few weeks before your 8th month mark and you weighed 19lbs 9oz. I'm putting you over the 20lb mark now. You wear 9 and 12 month clothes, mostly for length. You do have 2 pair of 6 month pants that still fit, except they are now the length of shorts!

Besides the "blue eyes" photos - I just have some sleepy boy ones. You're a tad bit spoiled, in that you really love mama and daddy's bed. After you get up to eat, sometimes you just fall back asleep in bed and let your mama sleep until 7:30 or 8:00. I love that.

And as paranoid as I am about blankets, I've caved and let you use them. You just don't seem to be happy unless you can be all snuggled up in one. I love how your little toes stick out through the holes!

A Future Dominique Moceanu?

On Monday, June 6th, Kaylynn had her first gymnastics class. There are two words that accurately describe this day.

Epic fail.

I haven't seen this many tears since...well, earlier this afternoon when I wouldn't let her watch anymore cartoons in the car (seriously, 90 minutes of Go, Diego! Go! is enough.)

I didn't get many good action shots - they were all blurry. It appears that the only documentation I have of her first class is her crying.

These were all taken from the 2nd floor looking down. At age 2, they haven't figured out that if they just look up, they can see their mama watching them.

Fightin' Texas Aggie Baseball!

Friday, June 3rd, Ben got to experience his first Aggie baseball game. Brian spent his childhood playing ball and we hope Ben loves it as much as his daddy did. When Kaylynn was younger (that feels weird to type...you know, her only being 2 and all) every time she picked up something with her left hand, Brian would always say, "No...can't waste a left hand on the girl!" :) Apparently being a south paw is a good thing for pitching. For the record - we didn't force her to be right-handed, it is just turning out that way.

Another plus for getting up to the motherland (CS) is seeing our good pals, the Josefys! Oh, and Brian ate Layne's for the first time. How he went through 5 years of school in that town and never ate there, I have no idea.

When we got to the game, we got awesome front row seats in what was always the student section. The students weren't quite so rowdy; maybe they were playing nice for the NCAA folks. Oh, and those seats were available because the sun was blazing right on them. That was neat fun for a 7month old, a 1 year old, a 2 year old, and some pale adults. Luckily we hang out with people who plan in advance. Ben had to sport a pink ball cap to block the sun. His daddy was appalled. :)

Kaylynn enjoying her first snow cone!

Frink Family - sporting red snow cone teeth!

After a walk with Bree, Kaylynn was ready to cheer on the Ags.

Sweaty, sunscreened hair = cute mohawk on a precious boy!

Photo Update

School's out, so I finally have time for blog updating.

Peas and apples make babies sleepy. Who knew?!

Testing out Meese and Papa's new [Jimmy Buffett] Frisco Feeding Frenzy chair. Say that 3 times fast.

Typical, happy Kaylynn.

Ben goes swimming for the first time. His mama was a bit over-the-top, but he didn't get suburned!

And this is what a tired baby boy, fighting 102 fever looks like. Poor thing!
