Same Age

Today, 8.18.12, Ben is 22 months old. The same exact age that Kaylynn was when he was born. Crazy how time flies. Even crazier to think that (in theory) IF we followed the same path as before, we would have 3 kids right now, ages 3 and under. I've been trying to get some pictures of Ben to use for his 2nd birthday party invitation. It is stinking hard to get a picture of him that meets 2 criteria: 1. Looking at the camera 2. Smiling Here are some outtakes. And some randoms of he and Kaylynn swimming. Brian got Ben kinda enjoying the pool! Dad's are fun like that. :)

Not looking.

Kinda smiling.  Might be my best shot so far...

I think he was talking here...

Something is funny...

Ready to jump!

She doesn't need anyone to catch her, but given the choice, she'll take it.

He was sitting here counting, "1,2,3,9"

Yay!  This is big for Ben!  He usually does not want to even get in the pool.  He likes throwing the water balls in the pool, so this day, I told him he could only do that if he put his bathing suit on. And next thing, Dad has him jumping in the pool.  Well, being pulled into the pool, whatever!

Already learning how to layout, apparently.

Sweet girl!

Rosy Cheeks

When our kids get out in the heat, they get these rosy red cheeks in about 2 minutes. They even have great tans. Lucky.

Summer Journal - Swimming

Of all the days that we could have gone to the park or zoo or someplace and not be drenched with sweat in 10 minutes, we went swimming.

Kaylynn has gotten really good at jumping in the pool.  While trying to catch her mid-air, I got some funny shots!

Barefoot skiing?

Timber!

We're pretty proud of her for just holding her breath and going in.  No nose holding!

This guy would rather throw balls than swim.

Miss Xena out for a stroll around the pool.

Ahh, yes.  This was when he began to torment his big sister. She was adamant that the water guns did not need to be in the pool.  So being the good little brother that he is, Ben threw them in.

Left-handed!!!!

That little smirk.  He knows exactly what he's doing.

She's yelling at him now.  Ha!

So he moves on to the rocks, to torment Meese.  He knows he is not allowed to throw them in the pool.
IMG_3997
But the sneaky little guys does it anyways.  Then tantrums start because he can't play outside anymore.  Rough life for a little boy.  Oh, and the bruise above his eye - Kaylynn whacked him in the head with a toy.

Insta-Maine

Just a few of my Instagram pics from Maine to hold you over until I can upload all the ones from my camera.  There are a lot! They are in backwards order

Happy 4th of July from Castine, Maine!

Starfish catching at Dennett's Wharf
Fire on the beach!  FYI - campsize marshmallows are a fail for smores.  Too much 'mallow.
Kiddy parade with balloons = Ben's best day!
Tug-o-war at Castine's 4th of July Festival.  For more info on it, visit here.

My farmer's market fail.  Turns out, I don't think about the fact that the Maine-iacs are just beginning their summer...about where we were at the beginning of May.
Rock throwing is the best thing to do at the beach, dontcha know.
She did not care that the water was like 50 degrees!
They could have sat here all morning, watching the planes!

summer journal: feeding cows

Feeding the cows might be his favorite thing to do.

It's a tough job, you know. Riding through bumpy pastures, watching grasshoppers fly everywhere, mooing at the cows as they come running.
